Need a GM tech or a knowledgeable DIYer. I need to rebypass my built in security system. Not possible? Thats a lie. When I bought my truck the owner told me it was a safety switch he installed to keep his children from playing and accidently starting the car. No problem i have kids sounds good. For the first 6 months it worked fine when you started the car you pressed the button starter would crank. It started having problems and then you would have to reach down and kinda slide the panel to get it to work. (Or apply pressure to the panel) Well finally got around to trying to fix it. Took the panel off and looked at the wires. two of the wires going to the button was not connected anymore. So reattached them and now it wont start at all. Took them back off and it still doesnt start. Need a diagram showing what the wires thats plugged into the (GM Goodwrench Security System Box) And also how to bypass it or fix what the original owner did.
Things to know.
Car has power but when you turn the key no crank.
Fuel Pump is still kicking on.
It is possible as it worked for the last 9 months.
Theres no remote start or active alarm system. ( Not really sure what the box is susposed to do)
Theres no alarm light on the dash at all.
And if anyone can help tomorrow i can provide pics to better display the issue.

Thank You For Reading And If You Help Also For Your Help
Umm ok. Its not a lie I have pics of it too. A buddy is even a mechanic and said it makes no sense because the key i have is gm branded but no resistor chip built into it. Yet the box is there. Really Stop Trolling
I will say my question is a little misleading. Simply pressing the button does not start the car. Pressing the button while turning the key starts the car. And thats the problem pressing the button no longer does anything.
There were two switchs involved one toggle and one push button though the toggle never seemed to do anything it was linked to a black wire and the push button a brown wire both connect into the security box but upon pulling the lower dash down they came unplugged from the box so im also now trying to figure out which it plugs back into.

car alarm system for cheep?

i want a good or ok alarm system for a good price like under and how hard are they to install and if it matters i have a 93 ford explorer

I am assuming I need to access the ignition switch. I have done things like adding OEM fog lights and I know where the alarm system is located under my dash. Any help please!

Today I swapped out the radiator in my 1999 Honda CR-V. I unplugged the negative battery terminal when I did so. I put everything back in the way it should be and now the car won’t start.

I can turn on my lights so I am pretty sure the battery is fine, it is fairly new.

I have an alarm system on the car but don’t have a remote anymore. The light for the system is blinking 2 times every couple of seconds and I don’t recall it doing this normally. I have a feeling it might be this that is not letting it start.

The only sound I get is a click, it doesn’t even try to start.

I have a Nissan and when i went to church left my car at the parking lot someone broke in by braking the window. I thought that all the cars that you buy have an alarm system, but, how come the alarm never went off? I my have the car remote and it has that button to make the siren go off. So i thought that mean that the car has an alarm, so i didn’t worry till know. So was it some professional that disabled the alarm or what happened? So i want to know what to look in my car and how to know that i have a good alarm system(Like if it has a blinking light or a sticker) or what to ask the mechanic what to put in or to do or how to make sure it don’t happen again?

code car alarm system?

ok i have a code alarm system on my truck and when i lock it it ussually honks once and waits a few seconds then honks again but lately its just been honking twice back to back is that normal?

Here’s the scenerio….you go into a well known new car dealership & buy a used car. They scurry you through everything to the point of barely getting to test drive it. By the time you get into the finance department the finance jerk, I mean guy, asks you if you want a car alarm installed since there is none, which they can put into the financing & schedule an appointment. Sounds like a good idea as the car will mostly sit in the driveway at night time. You only get 1 remote access key with the car so you schedule an appointment with a dealership that sells the model car you buy. The service coordinator asks…why did you purchase a car alarm when the car is already equipped with a factory installed alarm that works? So here’s the question…do I have any recourse with the original dealership for selling me an alarm system I didn’t need at 0? I looked in the book that came with the car & it says there is a factory installed alarm.

Thanks!
Dave007: I didn’t know there was a used car dealer associations. Thanks for the tip! There is a used car manager at the place & I’ve dealt with him….total slime ball! I think I need to take it beyond this guy as he’s a real smooth double talker & would sell you his mother if it were legal. Thanks again & I’ll try to look up the association!
