My car alarm on my car has been acting weird and I am not sure what the problem is. My keyless entry on my key has a little green light when you unlock the doors or lock them and for someone reason the light is stuck on green and it will not let me open the doors using the keyless entry. And when I open my doors manually with the keys my alarm then goes off and it will not let me start my car. I have a little switch that I can bypass the alarm with and turn it off and then my car will start but I would like to know what is wrong with my keyless entry. I know it is not the battery in it because I already tried buying one and it still stays lit up. Please help.

Here’s the scenerio….you go into a well known new car dealership & buy a used car. They scurry you through everything to the point of barely getting to test drive it. By the time you get into the finance department the finance jerk, I mean guy, asks you if you want a car alarm installed since there is none, which they can put into the financing & schedule an appointment. Sounds like a good idea as the car will mostly sit in the driveway at night time. You only get 1 remote access key with the car so you schedule an appointment with a dealership that sells the model car you buy. The service coordinator asks…why did you purchase a car alarm when the car is already equipped with a factory installed alarm that works? So here’s the question…do I have any recourse with the original dealership for selling me an alarm system I didn’t need at 0? I looked in the book that came with the car & it says there is a factory installed alarm.

Thanks!
Dave007: I didn’t know there was a used car dealer associations. Thanks for the tip! There is a used car manager at the place & I’ve dealt with him….total slime ball! I think I need to take it beyond this guy as he’s a real smooth double talker & would sell you his mother if it were legal. Thanks again & I’ll try to look up the association!

my car alarm started working all of a sudden…?

This is what happened:

1. While driving, I checked all my windows, so I opened all of them just to make sure they were working. But when tried the passenger side window, my car stereo shut off and back on again. Right?

2. When I arrived at my house, I took the key out of the ignition, and the inside of my vehicle made a weird sound or something. I’m not sure exactly, but it made me want to turn on my car to make sure everything is okay. Well, the car wouldn’t start. AND I was like "Noooo! dead battery!" But as it turned out the alarm when off right after. I shut it off with the remote. And I tried it again, nothing happened. So I activated my alarm with my key, and sat in my car and tried to start it. Well, guess the car wouldn’t start again and the alarm went off. So somehow, someway the alarm is now activated. And even when I hit the button to activate/deactivate it, it makes different sound. So it works, I don’t know if the windows had something to do with it or what!
My car alarm has not been working, ever since I bought the car (it came with the car) 4 months ago.

I have full remote control functionality, can arm/disarm the car alarm, use command start, but the alarm siren will not shut off. It continually shrieks whether the alarm is armed, disarmed or in alarm mode (tripped alarm. All works well, but for some reason the siren won’t stop going off! Any ideas?

how to disable car alarm ?

lost the car remote so i have no way to disable the car alarm, when i use my regular key it makes the alarm go off and i cant start the car. any ideas ? it’s a 96 lexus es300

I have a 200 Dodge Durango and it came with a car alarm (lock, unlock, panic) and also a little remote that says "Your Valet" on the front with two buttons, I and II, and a green LED light. On the back it says DEI and has a bunch of numbers. How does it work? I know that pressing "I" will make my lights flash. Pressing II doesn’t seem to do anything. I I accidently pressed both at the same time and it sounded like it started up my truck but it wasn’t on. Like it started it and then turned it off. What was that? Is it a remote car starter?

I want to get a car alarm for my '95 Saturn SL2?

Hello. I am interested in getting a car alarm since I will no longer have a garage at my new apartment. I would like to have a remote that has an alarm, car starter, and auto lock buttons. Any recommendations on a good brand and also I have heard that putting an alarm on an older car could screw up the electronics. Is this true?

My battery doesn’t have enough juice to turn the engine over in 10 degree weather after a week of inactivity. I have an auto starter and a car alarm installed. Are they enough to drain the battery over a period of a week to keep the car from starting or do I need to get a different battery?

Is it a short or the auto starter?

My car alarm keeps going off a few hours after I get out of the car. I’ve asked this question before without any responses. Any mechanics here? I have an auto starter in my car, and this started one morning when my auto starter wouldn’t work. The people at the auto starter place said use their remote only, but the car alarm keeps going off randomly. They keep "looking" at it but not fixing it. Any advice.
It’s a 2004 Ford Taurus. The auto starter is from one of these accessory stores. It’s supposed to have a warranty, but they just keep having me bring it in to look at it. They never fix it and they never replace anything. My husband and I are in screaming fights over this. I have no idea what to do. The dealership tells me (via phone) it’s probably from the auto starter, and the auto starter people won’t replace it. What should my next step be???
Oh, and this problem started 2 years after having this auto starter.
