Why is my car alarm randomly going off?

I have a 98 Ford Explorer which has a factory alarm that just decided to start randomly going off. For no reason at all. Does anyone know why or how to fix it? Could it be the battery going bad in the keyless remote?

I just bought a used car and it has an alarm system on it. It requires me to input a 4 digit number to arm/disarm it, the keypad is under the dashboard.. The only markings on it is "AG II Professional". Does anyone know where I can get information about it? I’d like to change the alarm code as I don’t trust the previous owner. The car is a 1990 Ford so the alarm is most likely from after 1990. It was bought in Australia

Thank you in advance.

I have been having problems with the factory security system in the Ford. After I replaced the car battery I think it reset the system and the car will not start without the ‘beep’ from the remote. However, I have to press the unlock button many, many times really fast to get the ‘beep’ to work. Otherwise, the car will not start. I took it to the dealership and they did not know the problem and wanted to charge me to look at it. Has this happened to anyone and any advice to fix it? This morning after the ‘beep’ I still could not get it to start. I want to disable the security system but not sure if that will help. Thanks.

Remote start installation troubleshooting?

I am installing a remote start on my 2001 ford focus LX……I purchased the Avital 5303 alarm and remote start and I also installed the required PKALL….Everything seems to be working properly until you start the car with the remote..it stays on for 10 seconds and then shuts down….the diagnosis says it is an Over-rev shutdown…and I need some guidance as to what Over-rev shutdown is and how to fix it…………….Please only serious responses

Are Alert Car alarms by JBS Technologies any good?

I am looking for a car alarm with remote start, that I can install myself. After talking with the sales person at Best Buy, and having the price of the alarm plus installation nearly double on me (I have an older vehicle that does not require any by-pass modules). I don’t feel like spending 0 to have a 0 alarm installed. I also have a lot of experience in installing components such as stereos and amplifiers. However most alarm manufacturers will not warrant their product if not installed by a certified installer. The Alert alarm is being sold pre-wired for the vehicle through http://www.autoalarmpro.com. I have not been able to find any reviews on the product.
Thanks,
Pat
Thanks for the response. The car I have is a 1995 Ford Crown Vic. I have power door locks, but no factory keyless entry. I installed an aftermarket one when I bought the car, but the aftermarket unit is wearing out, and it’s time to upgrade.

Is my auto start what is wrong with my car?

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer. I had auto start installed in it about a month ago, I know its a Viper but I don’t remember the rest of the details on what model.

Every once in a while when I start my car with the auto start once I am in the car and start to try to drive away the car will try to stall and I have to stop and wait or it dies.

This morning before I left for work when my car was in the garage there was a blue light flashing on a senson attached to my windshield near my rear view mirror but I just assumed it had always done that and I had just never noticed. When I drove to work this morning, the car drove fine.

Today at noon I hit my auto start button on the remote, and after 2 minutes the remote indicated to me it was shutting the car off. When I went out to my car and tried to start it with the key, the car would turn over but wouldn’t start. It did the same thing with I attempted the autostarter again, and after a couple of minutes the autostart quit trying.

After several attempts I got the car started with a key but then when I shut it off and tried with the auto starter it didn’t work. It seems to be hit or miss, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. But when it doesn’t it seems to incapacitate my car for up to half an hour.

What could be causing this?
I have a 1 year warranty on the system and a lifetime warranty on the installation, I bought it and had it installed at Best Buy. They can’t look at it until Saturday and told me even that is a maybe because they are really booked up, is that acceptable when this could be faulty work on their part?
