I own a 2007 Chev Cobalt LT. Standard equiptment includes a content theft deterrant system and a remote car starter. Several days ago, for no apparent reason, The car alarm started to malfunction, and the alarm would sound for no apparent reason. Additionally, simultaneously, the remote car starter stopped working.

The car alarm’s indicator normally blinks three times when first armed or if someone tries to open the doors. It now blinks constantly. Normally, the alarm goes off if the doors, trunk or hood are ajar or open. It now goes off for no apparent reason, usually after sitting armed for a moment or two (maybe as much as ten sometimes).

Normally, the starter will not work if the hazard lights are on, or if the doors, trunk or hood are open. (Among other things) Now, the starter does not work at all, though the car’s lights do flash, which is the sign the the remote’s signal is being received.
The obvious answer is that one of the door/trunk/hood sensors are malfunctioning, though these are have ‘open/ajar/ indicator lights which are not going off unexpectedly. Additionally, I live in a winter climate, with salt and sand on the roads. The car is in mint shape. The only after-market items are related to the sound sytem, all professionally installed.

I suspect that the cause is related to both components. Does anybody know if these two systems have a part or sensors in common?

Can anyone guess what the cause might be?
"Parts made in China." Wow. You suck. I love my shiny Cobalt, but I’d trade it for a Honda anyday.

my car got flooded and fixed and working somewhat fine now but the alarm is crazy they took out the other alarm . the factory alarm is now the crazy one so they said i need to replace the factory alarm but i’m worried that wont fix the problem? i dont want to blow 400 plus dollars on an alarm system that wont fix the alarm problem i have now? do you think this will help my problem i have an honda accord coupe 2003.

my car alarm won't shutup?

recently i got my first car fixed, it’s a old honda i havent used in years. the first owner had the "MAAT GFM-750 Car Alarm" installed. i was googling and found a similiar alarm, i am sure that this is the alarm i have. cos i reconized the remote and the black box with a red led. there is a fuse box too but i can’t find it while looking under the hood/steering wheel.

at first the remote didn’t unlock/lock the doors, someone suggested i should get a new battery and i did but that didn’t fix it.

now i got new problems:
- remote button won’t lock/unlock doors
- remote wont shut off alarm siren
- sometimes alarm goes off after battery hook up
- sometimes when i got the battery hook up without alarm siren, tried start up the car = alarm goes of + engine didnt start

it’s annoying to the neighobor and embarrasing to me.
i need a solution please, it’s a waste of money to buy auto insurrance for a inactive car.
i tries big tink, but unable to locate it. i cut off 1 speaker under the hood thinking its connected to the alarm. but there is another it seems if i can find it i would cut off too.
latest update: i successed in deactivate the alarm. would like to know how to sync the alarm with my remote.

I have a 98 Honda Accord. I went to autozone and the battery isn’t low on the remote. But just to be sure. I left it inside the car so it wouldn’t go off. But the alarm still goes off all the time. Sometimes it turns off on its own and sometimes I have to go outside and start my car. Please help!

how to disable car alarm?

I need to get into my 2003 Honda civic to drive home but i cant unlock the car with the remote cause the remote wont work. If i try opening it with the key the alarm goes off and its connected to the cars starter plug so i cant start the car either. How can i take off the alarm so i can drive home?? please help.

I didnt know my car even had an alarm today until my dad tried to jump his car and while taking the plugs off mine accedently unhooked my battery. That was when all hell broke loose. half an hour later we found out how to shut it off the alarm and now i just want it gone for good.
My car is a 95 honda accord. No clue about the alarm system.

My sister has a newer Honda Civic that was recently broken into. Her ignition is out of whack now because they tried starting the car with (what we’re assuming) a screwdriver. She cannot afford an expensive alarm system, but needs to do something. Does anyone know of anything she can install to possibly scare someone away if they do get in again?

(She has manual locks so it’s very simple to get into)
